Program includes:
Bake sale – During the day there will be baked goods available for purchase with the proceeds going to The Dharma Centre.
Death Cafe/Meditation on death – Certified Death Doula Adam Brant will be hosting a free death cafe. A death cafe is “an event where people gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.”
Singing Circle – Certified Birth Doula Sharon Johnson will host a singing circle
Medicinal herbalist guided tour – Our friend Demian, a herbalist with a great knowledge of wild medicinal plants will offer a guided tour along the paths of The Dharma Centre and offer insights and knowledge about our native plants and what medicinal properties they posess.
Introduction to meditation and yoga – Jane Scott (schedule permitting) will offer a short and informal 20-30 minute introduction to meditation and yoga class for those in the community who are interested in getting started on their journey.
Tastes of the Dharma – Chef Mitchell and Vincent will be preparing a 5-6 course meal featuring dishes from each of the most prominant Buddhist countries. This will be a paid meal, $100.00 per person, and people will have to sign up to reserve their spot. The proceeds of which will be divided respecfully between Chef Mitchell and The Dharma Centre.
History of the Dharma Centre visual presentation – An area of the lawn or inside the tent will feature historical photos of The Dharma Centre and information regarding the history of The Dharma Centre and founder Namgyal Rinpoche.
Property and Facility tour – We would like to offer a tour of the designated walking trails as well as the facilities available at The Dharma Centre, Temple, Mainhouse, Garden, Hermitage, as well as important monuments on the property.
Volunteer recruitment sign up – During the days events we will have volunteer information and sign up sheets available.
