Hello friends of the Dharma Center
The news in Dharma Centre emails, in phone chats with old friends, and in postings on the
website and on Facebook is uplifting. Recent retreats were well-attended and many people
continue to benefit from the activities and ambiance of the Centre. There is a full board and
wonderful staff and volunteers.
Important improvement of Centre buildings and monuments is in motion. Major improvements are planned for the Temple and will proceed in stages as funds become available. Donations marked “Building Fund” can be allocated to the Temple projects. I hope you will join me in making a donation to support the Building Fund!
Heather Rigby has a project to repair the roof of the Buddha Shrine and get the beautiful
Garudas re-installed. Heather led the effort to get a new Dharma Chakra installed a couple of years ago and that important symbol galvanized a renewal of the Centre. This is one of my favorite projects, and I am pleased to be able to make a donation marked “Garudas” to support that project.
A few years ago we did a regular fund-raising for high cost projects, and occasionally heard
from members who said they had little money available to donate and fundraising requests
made them feel uncomfortable. I understand. There is no expectation that everyone will donate.
We have well over a thousand people on the Dharma Centre participants list. While some
people make occasional large donations and these are welcomed, a great difference is also
made by a large number of small donations. Donations from five to fifty dollars add up quickly when many people join together.
The Dharma Centre continues to thrive, and your donation creates so many benefits -- and your generosity impacts many people who are seeking Dharma teachings.
You can add a donation to your annual membership due at the beginning of each year, and you can specify your choice of where you’d like your support to go -- Building Fund, Garuda project.
Once the Garuda fund is fully subscribed, additional funds will be applied to other monuments in need of repair or maintenance. Of course we are always happy to take a donation at other times of the year as well!
Canadians get tax deductions for donations directly from the Dharma Centre. US residents
can make their donations to an American non profit: Fairhaven Lantern Center. Fairhaven will give a grant to the Dharma Centre for donations marked to the Dharma Centre with no fees or charges. For info, email info@Fairhavenlantern.com, or write me at 3717 Tollgate Terrace, Falls Church, VA 22041.
With gratitude for all beings supporting the Dharma Centre and it’s teaching,
