Doug Duncan
Doug Duncan   Doug Duncan is a Dharma teacher born in Canada, and is known for his energetic, insightful, humorous, and highly practical approach to teaching paths of awakening. His inquisitive nature has led him around the world exploring many cultures, religions and mystical beliefs. His principal teacher is Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche, the illustrious Canadian-born lama who has been recognized as an awakened being by the leaders of all four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Namgyal Rinpoche is known for his integration of traditional Theravadin, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist teachings in an eminently practical holistic approach that incorporates teachings of other mystical and religious traditions together with psychology, art and modern science.

Based on decades of practice and training with Namgyal Rinpoche in this comprehensive new approach to awakening, Doug Duncan has been teaching Dharma at centers around the world for over fifteen years. He has done extensive insight practice and has received teachings from numerous Tibetan meditation masters including the 16th Karmapa, Kalu Rinpoche, Sakya Trenzin Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and the Dalai Lama among others. He is well versed in teachings such as the six yogas of Naropa, Mahamudra and Dzogchen. In addition, Doug is experienced in Sufi, Taoist, Zen and Western mystical traditions, along with a strong base in Abhidhamma (Buddhist psychology) method. With a thorough grasp of the sciences and arts, Doug Duncan is also considered an excellent therapist by those who have worked with him.

Doug has been the resident teacher for the Dharma Centre's Summer School in years past. In 1998, students in Japan invited Doug to take up residence in Kyoto and teach Dharma in Japan. Now, in addition to teaching periodic longer meditation retreats and giving individual guidance to students, Doug is offering regular classes in the Kansai area.

Doug's presence on the web can be found at Dharma Japan.
